January MASN Community of Practice Webinar

Join us for a visit with the National Association of School Nurses President, Nina Fekaris.  She has been a school nurse in the Beaverton School District in Oregon for 27 years. She provides nursing service to a comprehensive high school, a middle school, an elementary school and an alternative earth science high school program. She also provides supervision to two classroom nurses who provided direct nursing care for medically fragile students. Prior to becoming a school nurse, Nina worked as a staff /ICU nurse at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo and as the Director of Nursing and Health Service for the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Nina graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Graceland University in 1979, and received her Master in Science from Central Missouri State University in 1983. She became a Nationally Board Certified School Nurse in 2008.

Nina is the current NASN President and Executive Committee member. She served as Director on the NASN Board of Directors as well as past-president of the Oregon School Nurses Association. She was recognized as Oregon’s School Nurse of the Year in 2008/2009 and was honored to be named NASN’s National School Nurse of the Year in 2009/2010.
