Position Description

The Kent County Health Department is seeking a dynamic professional to lead our Community Wellness Division, which includes Maternal and Child Health, Children’s Special Healthcare Services, Health Education & Promotion, and Vision and Hearing programs. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring program compliance, and advancing public health initiatives that improve the well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage staff across multiple wellness programs.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
  • Ensure compliance with public health regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to expand access to services.
  • Monitor community health trends and identify service gaps.
  • Oversee budgets, funding proposals, and program reporting.
  • Support staff development and performance management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Public Health Administration, Nursing or other relevant health and human services.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in public health including a minimum of two years’ experience in public health administration. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Experience in public health program management or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of public health systems, funding, and regulatory requirements.
